Finland Finland Finland...
...the country where I want to be.
How do I describe ten amazing days with some of the friendliest, most welcoming people on the whole planet? Our time in Finland was unforgettable, not only because of all the shows, but all the people we met. Check out the gallery, and look for video later.
Helsinki and the FABS
First on the schedule, a reunion with our good friends in the Finnish Association of Barbershop Singers. They opened up their homes, and showed us a wonderful time in Helsinki and nearby Porvoo. After getting used to the time zone, we put on a very successful concert with Friendly Advice.
Vaasa Choral Festival XVI
The second part of our tour was as headliners at the sixteenth annual choral vestival in Vaasa, further North on the Gulf of Bothnia. This is a unique and amazing event that draws vocal groups from eight countries, and often features a barbershop quartet. We had the pleasure of performing many times before warm and enthusiastic audiences in several remarkable venues, teaching school kids about our brand of a cappella harmony, and also conducting workshops and coaching several groups.
...you're so near to Russia
We met several Russian groups last year in St. Petersburg, and we got to catch up with them again in Vaasa. There is such a strong tradition of the arts in St. Petersburg, and these ladies are improving in leaps and bounds. Can we take credit for coaching them? Well, we can try.
Thank you Finland - we will never forget the time we had!
