Farewell to John

After nearly five glorious and success-filled years with Realtime, John Newell, the original lead, has retired. After adding twins to his family last January, he and his wife Corinne have "three under three" and John, being a dedicated family man, knew that he could not keep up with Realtime's active performance schedule. His decision to retire was a difficult one, but the quartet has always believed in "family first", so in the end the right choice was clear.

We will miss John greatly, with all the artistry and fun that he brought to every show and rehearsal. A champion of the Barbershop Harmony Society forever, John will continue to wear his hard-earned gold medal proudly.

As your biggest fan east of the Mississippi, I am sad to hear of John's retirement but certainly understand and respect his decision. I still look forward to being Realtime's host when you guys come to Nashville in Sept. 2009 to be on the TuneTown Show Chorus show. Please give our best to John and Corinne.

I will never forget how ecstatic I was to witness your meteoric rise to your championship.

I wish you the best as you continue to make great music together. Keep up the great work guys!

I am so delighted that Doug is your new Lead. Realtime has always had a special place in my heart but, now that Doug has joined you, that place has become even bigger. I have always enjoyed listening to his wonderful lead voice and having heard Realtime on your web page...... WOW! You guys are even more awesome! Can't wait to see and hear you on the Tidesmen Show in November!
